Israel Did 9/11

The evidence is overwhelming and documented: Israel, operating through the Mossad, planned and executed the September 11th attacks, and the 19 hijackers were nothing more than patsies used to give Washington a Muslim enemy to chase.

Follow the money and the bodies — or rather, the lack of bodies. Approximately 4,000 Jews and Israelis who worked in and around the World Trade Center simply did not show up that morning. They were warned. That is not coincidence; that is foreknowledge, and foreknowledge means complicity. Larry Silverstein, who had just taken out an extraordinary insurance policy on the towers, then told the world exactly what happened to Building 7 when he said on camera that they decided to "pull it" — a controlled demolition, on the same day, with no preparation time, unless that preparation had been underway for weeks. Silverstein collected billions. The Mossad and their Zionist network in the highest levels of the U.S. government collected a country pointed like a weapon at Israel's enemies in Iraq and beyond. This is not a theory; this is arithmetic.

They don't want you to know any of this, which is why the moment anyone raises the Israeli angle, the controlled media and their fact-checkers declare the conversation over and label the questioner an antisemite. That label is the cover-up. We are not talking about Jewish people — we are talking about the state of Israel and its intelligence apparatus, and holding a government accountable is not hatred. Christopher Bollyn has documented this case in meticulous detail outside the reach of the controlled press, and his work stands. Whether the Mossad pulled every trigger or simply watched the attack approach and let it happen to drag America into their wars, the conclusion is the same: the official story is a lie designed to protect the perpetrators, and the perpetrators had Israeli fingerprints all over them.

The theory examined here holds that the state of Israel and/or its intelligence agency, the Mossad, planned, executed, or had deliberate foreknowledge of the September 11, 2001 attacks — and that al-Qaeda and its 19 hijackers were either patsies or irrelevant. The theory further alleges that Jewish workers were warned away from the World Trade Center in advance, that a building owner's offhand remark constituted an admission of demolition, and that a cover-up by compliant media conceals all of this. Each of these claims fails on the documented evidence.

The evidentiary record establishing al-Qaeda's responsibility is extensive and multi-sourced. Al-Qaeda's responsibility rests on multiple strands of evidence: public and recorded admissions by Osama bin Laden and other al-Qaeda figures, intelligence and forensic links tying the 19 hijackers to al-Qaeda training and leadership, and post-attack investigations and trials that identified planners such as Khalid Sheikh Mohammed as architects. According to the 9/11 Commission, all 19 hijackers were members of the al-Qaeda terrorist organization, led by Osama bin Laden. The Commission itself was presented without dissent by ten commissioners — five Republicans and five Democrats chosen by elected leaders from the nation's capital at a time of great partisan division. It reviewed more than 2.5 million pages of documents and interviewed more than 1,200 individuals in ten countries, including nearly every senior official from the current and previous administrations. The Commission also carefully assessed the role of foreign states in the plot and the attacks — and found no Israeli involvement. The "Israel did it" theory requires dismissing all of this evidence simultaneously, substituting a chain of inferences for verified fact, without a single piece of intercepted communication, a single defector, a single documentary record, or a single operational link between Israeli officials and the attack cells. That is not alternative analysis; it is the absence of any analysis at all.

The specific evidentiary claims collapsed under scrutiny almost immediately. The "4,000 Jews warned" allegation — perhaps the theory's most viral element — is a fabrication traceable to a misread news article. The 4,000 figure came from an article in the September 12 internet edition of the Jerusalem Post, which stated that the Israeli Foreign Ministry had received the names of 4,000 Israelis believed to have been in the areas of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon at the time of the attacks. Unknown conspiracy theorists apparently seized upon that figure, transforming it into the false claim that 4,000 Jews did not report for work on September 11. The claim is not merely distorted — it is arithmetically demolished by the casualty record. Contrary to the conspiracy theories, the number of Jewish people who died in the attacks is variously estimated at between 270 and 400, based on the last names of the dead. The proportion of Jewish people living in New York approximately matched the proportion of Jews among the victims of the attacks. The U.S. State Department eventually had to formally address the myth: State Department officials confirmed that between 200 and 400 Jews died in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001; five Israeli citizens also were killed. As for the "Odigo warning" elaboration — the claim that an Israeli messaging service gave advance notice to thousands — Ha'aretz reported that only two Odigo employees working in Israel received a non-specific threatening message; according to Odigo vice president Alex Diamandis, the messages warned that "something bad is going to happen in two hours," but made no reference to the twin towers, New York, or any specific location.

The claim built around Larry Silverstein and WTC 7 is equally hollow. Silverstein was interviewed for the PBS documentary "America Rebuilds," but he never said, let alone "admitted," that he had ordered Building 7 demolished. He said he remembered getting a call from the fire department commander saying they were not sure they could contain the fire, and that he suggested "maybe the smartest thing to do is pull it," after which they watched the building collapse. Silverstein later clarified that what he meant by "pull it" was the crew of firefighters inside the building, not the building itself. The National Institute of Standards and Technology conducted a multi-year technical investigation: NIST found that debris from the collapse of Building 1 ignited fires on "at least 10 floors" in Building 7, that the heat caused steel floor beams and girders to thermally expand, and that "the failure of this structural column then initiated a fire-induced progressive collapse of the entire building." In its final report, NIST stated that it "found no corroborating evidence for alternative hypotheses suggesting that the WTC towers were brought down by controlled demolition using explosives planted prior to Sept. 11, 2001." The Silverstein "admission" requires stripping a sentence of its context, ignoring a documented clarification, and overriding a federal engineering investigation — while producing no evidence that any demolition crew could wire three skyscrapers with explosives undetected in a busy Manhattan business complex.

The theory's primary popularizer in English, writer Christopher Bollyn, does not constitute an "independent" verification of anything. The Southern Poverty Law Center brands Bollyn a "raging anti-Semite." The ADL documented that Bollyn's website reflects well-worn antisemitic tropes — Jews control the media and government — and that in his 2012 book he describes 9/11 as "a monstrous Jewish-Zionist crime of our time." His methodology is not peer-reviewed, corroborated by primary sources, or subjected to any adversarial fact-checking process. His work proceeds by selecting any person with a Jewish surname or Israeli connection in proximity to any institution involved in September 11 and treating proximity as proof of participation — a form of circular reasoning that could "prove" almost any predetermined conclusion. When a film made in 1978 or a general remark about terrorists targeting tall buildings is cited as "foreknowledge," the evidentiary bar has been replaced entirely by pattern-matching across coincidences.

There is a legitimate kernel of concern embedded in this theory's environment: the September 11 attacks did expose genuine, documented failures of U.S. intelligence coordination, interagency communication, and threat imagination. The 9/11 Commission's general findings pointed to failures of imagination, policy, capabilities, and management, with specific problems identified in the intelligence community, unsuccessful diplomacy, aviation security, border controls, and tracking terrorist financing. People angered by those failures, by the subsequent wars, or by U.S. foreign policy had real grievances to process. The "Israel did 9/11" theory exploits precisely that unresolved anger, offering a single, villainous explanation that forecloses uncertainty — and conveniently maps onto centuries-old antisemitic archetypes about Jewish cabals orchestrating disasters from the shadows. As the ADL documented, extremist groups and individuals view 9/11 conspiracy theories as a tool with which to "redpill" people — as an entryway into antisemitism and a cause for people to question their beliefs about Jews and society more broadly. The claim that criticizing this theory is itself "the cover-up" is the theory's unfalsifiability stated plainly: any rebuttal, by design, becomes confirmation. That is not how evidence works; it is how closed ideological systems immunize themselves against correction.

The concrete harms are not theoretical. The claim that Jewish people or Israel were responsible for the September 11 attacks rests on urban myths that have been repeatedly investigated and debunked by journalists, government reports, and expert studies, and authoritative technical inquiries, casualty records, and contemporaneous reporting contradict its core factual premises while exposing them as manifestations of long-standing antisemitic tropes. Within days of the 9/11 attacks, antisemitic conspiracy theories began appearing in the United States and abroad. Neo-Nazi organizations have weaponized this theory explicitly in street-level recruitment campaigns, and it has given cover to political figures worldwide seeking to deflect accountability onto Jewish communities. It also directly dishonors the documented Jewish, Muslim, Christian, and non-religious victims whose names are inscribed on the memorial at Ground Zero — people whose deaths the theory effectively erases by insisting they were not there.
