Its specific claims about hollow floors and mechanized occupancy simulation began circulating more systematically in self-published online documents and YouTube videos, particularly from roughly 2010 onward.

How believers defend it: Adherents typically treat official engineering reports, photographic evidence of dense debris, and eyewitness testimony from survivors and first responders as fabricated or planted elements of the same cover-up operation they allege, arguing that the scale of institutional involvement required to suppress the truth is itself evidence of how powerful the conspirators are. Peer-reviewed structural analyses and debunking articles are reinterpreted by believers as confirmation that authoritative sources are protecting the narrative, with any official denial serving as further proof of concealment.

Tenant distribution followed a vertical gradient, with banks, insurers, and government-related entities on lower floors, mechanical spaces on mid-floors, and major financial firms on upper floors. By 2001 the 110-story structure supported high occupancy rates, accommodating dozens of firms across investments, insurance, and professional services. The claim that no human remains were found is a grotesque inversion of the actual forensic record. The New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner tested all 21,905 remains recovered, from fragmented body parts to small shards of bone. The chief medical examiner described the effort as "the largest and most complex forensic investigation" in U.S. history, with investigators spending decades using DNA testing to identify tens of thousands of remains recovered from the Ground Zero site. Identifications have now reached more than half of the 2,753 people killed at the World Trade Center on 9/11. In curtainwall construction, opaque spandrel panels are a standard design element: spandrel panels are generally employed to conceal portions of a structure that are not aesthetically pleasing from the exterior, such as floor slabs, air conditioning equipment, and heating ducts. The alternating bands of lighter and darker glass on the Twin Towers' facades were Minoru Yamasaki's deliberate aesthetic choice, not evidence of missing floors. The elevator modernization contract cited as the cover story for gutting the towers is similarly mundane: vertical transportation by Otis defined the towers — dozens of express and local elevators, sky lobbies at the 44th and 78th floors, shuttle cars, freight lifts, and escalators — and modernization efforts spanned decades. Otis held the service contract until 1999, when ACE Elevator won a contract to modernize the system. Replacing aging elevator equipment in a 30-year-old skyscraper is routine building management, not evidence of a secret gutting operation.

Every named survivor, every first responder, every tenant employee, every forensic scientist who has spent decades extracting DNA from bone fragments, and every family member awaiting identification of remains is conscripted into the conspiracy as an actor, a liar, or a dupe.
