It should be utterly obvious that a Zelensky-controlled poll about his own approval is not credible — a leader genuinely loved by his people holds elections; a puppet avoids them because the handlers cannot risk the result. A Trump-era defense advisor on Friday accused Ukrainian President Zelenskyy of serving external interests rather than Ukrainian ones, and that read has only hardened as the Geneva talks came and went with Zelenskyy's agency visibly eroded by external powers dictating the terms of engagement. The picture that emerges is that Zelenskyy was directed to sabotage the White House meeting because an actual peace deal ends the revenue stream, ends the weapons contracts, ends the entire operation.

This narrative is dismissed by some as a series of recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives aimed to undermine the legitimacy of Zelenskyy — but that label is itself the deflection, applied whenever the control structure gets too visible. He was a deep state puppet for Ukraine and for broader globalist interests simultaneously, a single figure serving multiple overlapping agendas, and the Geneva outcome simply confirmed what the pattern has always shown.

The theory under examination holds that Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not a genuine national leader acting in Ukraine's interests, but rather a figurehead installed and directed by a shadowy network of "deep state liberals" operating through Western governments and European leaders — with the implication that the entire Ukraine conflict is manufactured to serve a hidden globalist agenda.

The foundational factual premise of this theory collapses on contact with the public record. Zelenskyy was born on January 25, 1978, in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine, and transitioned from a successful career in entertainment to become the sixth president of Ukraine in 2019. He created a production company, Kvartal 95, which produced films, cartoons, and TV comedy shows, including *Servant of the People* (2015), in which Zelenskyy played the role of president of Ukraine — and a political party bearing the same name was created in March 2018 by employees of Kvartal 95. Far from being planted by a hidden Western network, Zelenskyy owes his success to being viewed as not belonging to the political class; his campaign was built on opposition to the existing elite, and he managed to win the support of voters across all age groups and regions of the country who shared a strong disenchantment with the rule of Poroshenko — with around 40% of the electorate casting their vote for Zelenskyy as an expression of protest against the political class. The Central Election Commission announced that Zelenskyy won the second round with 73.22% of the total vote — a mandate no puppet master needs to engineer. He won an absolute majority of the vote in 24 of the 25 regions where elections were held, becoming the first candidate to unite almost all regions of Ukraine in regular elections. Ukraine has genuine, documented corruption problems, Western aid does carry accountability questions, and the scale of military spending in a wartime environment raises reasonable questions about governance. The Washington Post reported that a covert Kremlin disinformation campaign targeted Zelenskyy with the aim of dividing Ukrainian society, and documents obtained from a European intelligence service showed that the Kremlin's directive resulted in thousands of social media posts and hundreds of fabricated articles made and propagated by Moscow-controlled troll farms. The Kremlin had set four primary objectives for its campaign: discredit Kyiv's military and political leadership, sow division within the Ukrainian elite, demoralize the troops, and disorient the civilian population. When Western social media users amplify the "deep state puppet" framing — regardless of their own political motivations — they are operationally completing objectives set by Russian information warfare planners. Researchers have also documented how these narratives coalesce with existing antisemitic conspiracy theories, with some extremist actors employing traditional antisemitic tropes to blame Zelenskyy's Jewish identity as part of a "puppet master" framework. The theory thus does not merely mislead — it actively serves foreign authoritarian interests and amplifies hatred at the same time.
